Gawd help me.

Me = 45 year old technophobe
Daughter = 13 year old smartar$e

She want a new phone for a 13th birthday. She's saved up some cash plus has some b/d money. She has the choice of a Blackberry or a HTC wildfire.

The phone will be on pay as you go and she's given us some prices ranging from as much as £170 for a blackberry down to £100 for an HTC.

Now i don't want her wasting her cash so would like to know which of these phones is the better....if indeed you can judge phones like this.

She's mentioned that some people she knows have bckberrys and they can be a bit unstable.

Please help an old man out....i have enough trouble turning the tele on let alone bloody mobiles !!!

Thanks in advance

I'd go for the HTC personally...

But it doesn't really matter which one you get her, she's 13 so it will be the wrong choice a couple of weeks after you get whichever one.
Take her into a mobile phone shop and get the assistant to go through her requirements with her.
Agree with Chuck on both counts.....
I'd also put the onus on her to choose, then you can't be blamed. Also, the price you pay and the deal you get (on "running costs") is as important as the actual phone.

Thanks guys....it's her money and she's made up her mind that's what she wants....i just need to soften the blow a bit by making sure she gets a decent one.

A young family friend staying with us at the moment has just bought this Blackberry from the Carphone Warehouse on pay as you go for £119. She's quite happy with it. But like you I know nothing. I still use an old Nokia which I switch on when I need to phone someone, which isn't very often.
