Can anyone remember that I was convinced I saw Alan Bennett sat on a rocking chair in a craft workshop in North Norfolk on my recent holiday? (No, I hadn't been drinking). Well, I have since discovered that Mr B was indeed in that area around that time - so it was him.
I know he's quite an insular soul & not one for too much limelight, but how I wish I had gone up to him & said how much I admired his work, particularly his collaborations with Thora Hird and how 'The Cream Cracker under the Settee' made me cry because Thora always reminded me of my favourite nanna.
I have seen any number of famous people, latest was yesterday,
Dervla Kirwan, who was out shopping, she didn't have her very nice looking hubby with her, pity. I wouldn't have approached her, just seems sort of intrusive.
