Only way to cure it is to reboot , run AVG/MALWARE/CC cleaner etc, nothings come up, even our highly paid techie guys are struggling, any suggestions would be welcolme...........

The first thing to try is always running IE with no add ons... (start > all programs > accessories > system tools > internet explorer (no add ons) )

If it works fine with no add ons then you disable all of your add ons and then start re-enabling them one at a time until the problem returns, then you've found the culprit.
It happened to me and I opened up the computer and The processor was caked in dust causing it to over heat and say it was using 100% resorses. I cleaned it all and It was back to normal. It may not be the case with your computer though,It could be background programs running on your computer.
I find IE hogs resources especially if. like me, you leave the PC on for long periods. Does it sort itself out if you close IE completely, then open it anew again ?

I tend to get in a mess enabling and disabling add ons. Never know what I need or if it moans later what to turn back on. Las time I tried that, going back some time ago, I ended up with next to nothing enabled (and IIRC the problem still wasn't totally solved).

Maybe the answer is to try a different browser ?
If you look at the Task Manager 'processes' tab RAVID, you can usually see which tasks are taking the CPU cycles. Unsure overheating would affect IE alone.

going to run it with no add ons today a see what happens...
Cant try a different browser ,networked works PC, no option but to use IE,
IE7 addons that were not compatible with IE8 did cause a lot of trouble. It would be a good idea to check if later versions are available.

Firefox managed this really well by checking the compatibility of the plugins when upgraded.

Also, do you have Windows Updates all up to date?
