The tray of food I put down was empty this morning apart from some muddy prints and the plate for water had clearly been visited too.
It's nice to see they're settling in.

Aww that's lovely sandy, hope you enjoy your visitors and that they thrive well, the little sweeties.
Great news, what did you feed them?

I bought a biggish bag of Chapelwood hedgehog food. It looks a bit like muesli.
Well done, sandy. Always nice to give a helping hand to the wild creatures as well as birds.
gimme your address sandy and ill send a cartload of snails round for them..... theres some right big juicy ones :)
How can you tell if they are hedgehogs sandy - have you seen them? I would love to welcome them into my garden but how can you be sure it is not rats eating the food? How do you attract a specific creature? I put out food for the birds in a bird house and enjoy watching those but we have had a couple of rats, which the rat-catcher got rid of and he told me not to put food on the path or they would come back. Difficult because birds are not exactly tidy eaters and some of them are ground feeders, so how do you cope with that? Is there a way or do you accept whateve happens?

When I was letting the dog for its last run around the garden I saw a hedgehog. But even if there was a rat, or two, taking a bit of the food I wouldn't mind. They're all part of nature.
Well said sandy ...
