Finding someone in the British Army

Is it possible to track down someone who is currently serving in the Army, having only their first and last names to go on? If so, how would one go about it?

this exact question was asked about a week ago, when you first submitted the question, did the other one not come up in the similar questions list? Odd if it didn't as this does mirror the previous one, maybe you should search the site using oneof the relevent key words as i know it was answered satisfactorily.

Sorry, no it didn't come up in the list before I submitted the question. I didn't realise it had been asked so recently, I must have missed it.

Well, I've searched and searched on AB and I can't find any info. I have also tried Google and Friends Reunited but no joy.

Please bear in mind that this is for someone who is in the Army NOW, not years ago (saw a couple of threads about finding someone who was in W.W.2).

Anyone else who can advise?

There's no way that the army would provide you with contact details for a serving soldier. As well as the usual data protection issues which apply to any employer there are also security issues involved.

If the person you're trying to track down is someone who would welcome hearing from you, you could try asking the MoD if they would be prepared to arrange for a letter, from you, to be forwarded to the soldier. Your first point of contact should be a telephone enquiry to this number:
020 7 218 9000
(That's a general MoD enquiry number. Be prepared to be passed around many different extensions and probably given other numbers to try as well).

I seem to remeber that there is a website for the army - something like friendsreunited. Try google for army friends/mates etc..

is it possible to track someone who is currently serving in the army, having only his first name knowing he is working in afhkanistan at the moment and is from glasgow that is where his family are from and that is all i know ??
