The X-Box 360

I'm not a massive videogame fan, but being a big kid, I usually buy this sort of stuff anyway. So I got a couple questions.

What one game is the must have for xbox 360, preferably a game that would help me pass the festive period and experience the visual power of the new machine.

And I hear a lot of stuff about HDTV, but will my normal non-widescreen TV do? And can I still appreciated the "next generation" graphics with it, does it still show a considerable improvement from current generation?

Have a look at the screenshots on http://projectgothamracing3.com for a taster. This'll be an xbox 360 launch game and it looks like it'll be a lot better than PGR 2 which was excellent.

Your normal telly will be fine and it will still look fantastic.
Compare the screenshots on the site above with the ones of PGR2 on http://www.xbox.com/en-US/pgr2/default.htm , looks like there'll be a lot more detail and effects on the new one.

imho you should wait for the PS3.. it's gonna be better.

plus, the early xbox360's may not come with a hd-dvd drive; maybe only later models will do. early ones might come with a standard dvd drive.

I'd probably go with Project Gotham Racing 3 as well or maybe Dead Or Alive 4, both look great.
As to your current tv, if its an old CRT model then chances are its not HiDef, even some of the older LCD/Plasma models are not HiDef, even so the XBOX360 will downscale the picture to play so you wont lose out and then when you do take the leap, your good to go.
I would not wait for the PS3, sure it looks great but whens is coming and at what price ?. Live for the moment !

For must have game i would go for Oblivion and PGR3

The PS3 and Xbox 360 are pretty evenly matched, I would go with the Xbox360. It will be sale by the end of the year and the games are considerably cheaper.
