I have a very large indoor yukka that has spent the summer outdoors. I don't think that I can bring it back into the house because its just too big and heavy.
Is it possible to leave it outdoors this winter? what kind of protection would it require?

You might get away with it in a very mild winter down south but they will need protectiob around the root...so wrap the pot and top of soil with bubble wrap, and also protect as much of the stem as possible by doing the same. Try to keep the plant as dry as possible.
You might have to cut back the top in spring to encourage it to sprout out.
Keep it in as sheltered place as poss out of wind.

Good luck
you could try putting some garden fleece over it if it gets too cold. An old net curtain does the same.
I left a 6ft yukka out last winter and the leaves all died back.
I thought i had lost it but by cutting back all the old soft wood
and leaving it in a sunny position it has sprouted at least a dozen new shoots . This year I will winterize it.
Do not dump it !!
good luck
