Jack Newton, the golfer, who came second to Tom Watson at Carnoustie walked into the prop of a plane and sliced off his arm and part of his face. Such as golf is, the likes of Watos, Nicklaus, Trevino and several of the top players, went down to Australia and played in thei Open, giving their money to his foundation.

Newton "recovered" and with his fight, came back to play as an amateur and got down to a 5 handicap playing with just one arm......and also highly involved in amateur golf development in Oz.
