There is a Catholic church where i use to live called St Edmunds. It is in Castleford West Yorkshire. I passed it today to find it all boarded up. I have searched the internet to find out why, I have found nothing. I think the church was only built in about 1961. I know you are the best internet searcher on AB so can you please help. I will add, this area has a large catholic community.

Castleford comes under the Catholic Parish of Wakefield and Pontefract, within the Diocese of Leeds. If anyone will know why the church is boarded up, the Dean of the Parish should. Perhaps you could contact him?

Micmac, I used to live a couple of miles from Castleford (hence my avatar - it is the emblem of Featherstone Rovers Rugby League club).
A few years ago, after they had closed the local pit, a large complex was built on the site, offering all sorts of entertainment venues, including a planned casino (not sure if that was actually built), As a result Castleford got the nickname Cas Vegas in comparison with Las Vegas
