pop3 settings

Hi,
i have 2 computers and have had to reload windows on one of them as I got the "blue screen of death". I need to find the pop3 settings from my other
( working) machine to put into the new windows xp programme. where can I find them please.

The POP3 (and SMTP) settings, required by your email provider, are specific to that provider. They should be on the support pages of whoever who get your email service from. If you're with one of the main UK ISPs, you can find them here:

Alternatively, open your email client (Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, etc) on your 'good' computer. The exact location of the information you require will depend upon which program you're using but these instructions (for Outlook Express) will guide you towards where you need to be:
Go to Tools > Accounts and click the 'Mail' tab.
If you've only got one email account it will probably already be highlighted. (If not, click on the relevant account to highlight it)
Click 'Properties' and then the 'Servers' tab.
You'll find the POP3 and SMTP servers for your email account listed there.

Hi Chris,
Thank you for you help, but appears that the windows XP on the new install has a different format one from the old one. I do as you suggest, but the format of the info is different. the old one says "mail.mailhosted.com on what appears to be where the incoming is, and the one below is numbers where I would expect the outgoing smp to be. the existing working machine one goes into a wizard when I click accounts, very different from the other machine. any further ideas? This is outlook express by the way.

Hi,
I'm lost as well. I am using otlook on both machines, I have a personal sort of email address as i used to run an ebay shop, so I am "[email protected]"
I pay 5quidhost some sort of fee to host the site and direct mail to me, which was fine until the deadly blue screen arrived, could not even start in safe mode, message said "unable to start in safe mode, press any key ro re-start windows", then straight back to blue screen. wonderful stuff. But I do yhink that one of the outlook express programmes is quite old and the other recent, so the format has changed. Big question is: when it says about pop3 incoming and outcoing etc, should that look like a web address, or just say "pop3" or what.??? If I have a clue I can try some options. I may be blonde, but I know where the on/off switch is if I get too confused.

why dont you get your pop 3 settings from your broadband provider. they do have them

So, as I read that, your POP3 and SMTP servers have the same address, which is mail.teletechnics.co.uk

The reason that Annie can't get the relevant settings from her broadband provider is because her mail isn't hosted by that provider. It's provided by the company which hosts her website.
