vivandorron, I suspect, by the manner of asking the question, that dk02581 is not a native speaker of English. One often finds this brusque way of asking a favour among foreigners. Allowances should be made, I suppose, but it's still irritating.

It is not so much that foreigners are blunt/brusque/rude but more that bowing and scraping is a part of life in some cultures (compare with the Japanese body language) and not others. For example, in some languages there is no direct equivalent to some of the meanings/inferences/applications of the English word please. I recall someone once telling me that the British are the SPT people - Sorry, Please, Thank You - and the sorriest folk on the planet. The British like it that way but others find it intensely boring because it is seen as insincerity - ask yourself how often people actually mean they are sorry as opposed to just mouthing it. dk wants the details he mentions and said so - I find nothing wrong with asking directly and not pleading for them but I understand that some people may find it shockingly honest.
