My mother said she found me under the gooseberry bush but other sources suggest a visit by a very strong stork. Does he drop the babies down the chimney like Santa.? Who do I believe? Or do I accept the evidence of my own experiences? Perhaps it's all a dream.
I remember asking my mum (at the age of 13) where do babies come from, and is it true they grow in your tummy? She said I'll tell you when you are older, she never did. She couldn't speak about anything like that. She tried to tell me about periods but failed, she never mentioned where you would be bleeding from, so I was waiting for it to erupt from arms, legs face anywhere and wondering what to do when it happened!
I was issued under the appropriate war licence, storks couldn't fly in the war cos they got in the way of the planes, and gooseberry bushes had all been dug over! I came with an Identity card and a ration book.
Rich - I'm in Dover now, via Glasgow, Birmingham and Brighton. I move where a nice job comes up (and this corner is a great deal cheaper to live in than the M25 corridor these days!).
