Spiders

Am getting spiders in my conseratory and my wife cant
stand the sight of them. How can I deter the little blighters?

Citronella works apparently. Spiders taste through their feet and they hate the taste of citronella. Spray some around the places they seem to be coming from and hopefully they will stay away.

Apparently (I have not tried it myself,) conkers on the window sill - I think I saw that on this site a while back.

I have heard that a conker placed in each corner of the room will prevent spiders, although that probably just prevents them from appearing at ground level, and spiders are most adept at traversoing rooms at any height.

i do sympathise though, I don't like them, but i can live with them because i know they are good for keeping less desirable presenses at bay.

How I sympathise. I spend ages with a cobweb brush but they seem to love my house and I do feel mean brushing them down.By the way islasmum, I tried conkers on the windowsills and they just made their webs over the conkers as well.So i shall be watching hopefully for any ideas.

Sorry to butt in here, but the idea that conkers stop spiders is a myth. Have seen this on YouTube and the spider just ran over the conker like it was not there.

Not really sure what to do but do not kill them.

Its got to be worth a try.I'm serious you would not believe how many spiders (and webs) I get This spray is supposed to stop them coming in to the house.

Spray won't stop them 'coming in' because they are already 'in'.

It's a myth that garen spiders come in to the warm houses when the weather turns cold. What we have are house spiders who live and breed and die indoors, so you shouldn't put a spider outside, it won't live.

The answer I always give to this is buy a spray bottle of Spider Stop from Betterware and spray around doors and windows and it stops them coming in from outside which they do. I have been using this product for years after being plagued by huge critters coming in under the doors (how!!?) and since using it faithfully for all these years it deters them from coming in. It doesn't kill them they just don't like it. I can vouch for this product and am irrationally (yes I know) terrified of spiders but this has certainly helped my fear of the animals and I am more than pleased about that.

my mum bought me a plug in thingy that emits a very high pitched noise and it's supposed to annoy them so they don't come near. It works all over the house with only one unit plugged in.
But my husband is obsessed with unplugging things at night so we have seen a few lately so not sure whether it works or not!

I hate big spiders, can't even look at them (silly I know!), moved to country last April and in the September we got quite a few big 'visitors' which almost caused me a heart attack! Heard about the plug in's which release a high pitched sound that only the spiders can hear and it repels them, so far this year we haven't had any in the house, but of course September is the month when they usually come indoors so time will tell. Having done my research these plug in's come up good in the reveiws so I'm hoping it will work, they are about £30 but worth it if you want to keep them out!
