Had a leaflet in the letterbox this morning stating that Santander will give me £100 if I close my present current account with another bank and open one with them.
A buckshee £100 would be useful. Is there a catch?

you normally have to guarantee £2000 going into the account every month, and switch all your firect debits/standing orders to them, and after 6 months/12months you get your £100. Far too much hassle for me!
Usually, it has to become your main account and have salary paid in above a certain limit each month. This is general to banks, not specific to them. I don't know for sure, just assuming.
The teeny weeny print at the bottom will probably confirm that you will be expected to deposit £1000-£1500 pcm into the account over 12 months before you'll get it........

I haven't got 2K a month. It's always the way, if something seems too good to be true it usually is.
Last year they had an attractive 1 year bond to get potential customers and it was a better bet than a paltry 100 to get people in. Did the bond but stayed with present outfit.
I think the last time Santander did this offer you had to pay in £1000 per month minimum and it was after 3 months that they paid the £100
Santander have soooo many complaints and clients leaving since the changed from Abbey National that they are desperate for new business.
