I want to try a hunch or possibly saddle of venison recipe shortly but I am struggling to find a butcher who can supply the joint I need ..... can anyone help with recommending a decent butcher in either the west midlands or lichfield areas?

Does venison have a season or is it an all year meat
Question Author
This link shows the seasons for all game - but really depending on breed, venison should be available virtually all year round ....

Thanks everyone - will try the online option first
I buy venison from the Fletcher's (Seriouslygoodvenison) at our local farmers' market and it is truly excellent. The Fletchers are always happy to give you any advice on cuts and cooking.
Donald Russell of Inverurie do both Red and Roe deer by mail order - but it is frozen and quite pricey.
Or you could try these - they have red deer and roe deer venison.

I've bought loads of stuff from them and would thoroughly recommend it all. Their customer service is brilliant too - they once sent me a replacement joint of pork when I told them the rind hadn't been scored on the first one!
