Greetings each.
I am trying to get my hands on some of those screw-threaded metal inserts ie inserts which screw into a pre-drilled hole in a piece of wood, but also have a female thread inside which allows another piece of wood to be bolted onto it. Does that make sense?
I call them ferrules but cannot seem to Google 'em!
Does anyone happen to know the correct name for these things, and also where I can buy them in UK please?
Many thanks.
Be good!
Cheers.
The word ferrule derives form the Latin Viriola, meaning a bracelet. It has come to mean a metal band, especially one which strengthens an existing structure. The round knobbly things at the end of umbrella spokes are called ferrules. Just some useless information.
Hey Mr F:
You never cease to amaze me! Do you have a Fan Club by any chance?
You have gotten me out of the.....ummm.....err...(soft and murky) yet again. :-)
Many thanks.
Stay good!
Cheers.
Hi,
Came in late on this one, but no one mentioned " helicoil springs" they did that job, people used them when they crossed threaded spark plug bores.
