car insurance...where car is overnight...

when filling this in on your insurance and its normally kept in a garage, but what if you are staying overnight with a friend? or for whatver reason you have left it somewhere else, or even your name driver keeps it overnight...whats the situation?

are you not insured anymore or something?

or what if you happen to not even be staying over at someones house but are there until say 3-4 in the morning, before driving home, what happens then in the event of a theft?
