I bought Ziggy a Laser pen off the internet. It had arrived today and he loves it, There is a Danger warning on the side of it about not to shine it directly into eyes, which we would never do, I have been playing floor chase to try and tire him out a bit, This pen seems very bright and I am aliitle worried about it hurting his eyes? Can They? It says Max output 1mw on the pen not the cat.

It doesn`t hurt to shine the dot around the living room and have the animal chase it. Never point it at him though (or at anyone else for that matter). They can do some serious damage to eyes.
I don't know about the laser pan itself but Frankie discovered on our first play session that attacking my arm/hand killed the light. When my wounds healed I tried again and he attacked me again. Merlin screamed when she saw the light and ran out of the room and hid.

I got mine from 'Go Cat' so I presume that means they are safe.
murphy won't fall for it - she just gave me the "look"
They are great fun for cats to chase and its good exercise for them ... the cats, not the pens lol....
I remember when laser pens first really came out, and I brought one back from abroad.
I used to sit in my bedroom window for hours (I didn't have much else to do), and shine it down on people walking across the busy seafront where I used to live. At that time, not many people had seen them, and it was hilarious watching people go a bit crazy at this red dot shining on their chests.
My Dad took it off me though, after someone knocked on our door and complained!
You can only damage your cats sight if the pointer is shone directly into his eyes.. which you would obviously never do. Just chasing it around, will cause him no harm whatsoever.
If you use it sensibly it makes a great toy.

It is a wonder someone hasn't come on here and told you it gives the animal psychiatric problems.
Ive heard it makes cats go mad!!!
My cat doesn't get a look in with the laser pen, she delicately taps the red dot with her paw but the dog barges her out of the way and tries to dig the carpet!
