It is basically a look at the life "upstairs" (the rich) and "downstairs" (the poor) in a large country house in the early 1900 and into the first world war.
Its sentimental sugary Sunday night family viewing. Its totally unchallenging and for that reason I loathe it, but its warm, comforting and extremely well acted and for those reason I go back for more even if I do pretent to be doing something else at the same time!
upstairs downstairs type drama, first set in 1912, moved on to 1916, fun, lovely frocks, and the blokes aren't all bad, and Maggie Smith steals the show, as usual.Odd expressions sometimes, totally out of keeping with the time it's set, but apart from that, not to be missed.
