Outlook Express
4 Answers
Someone sent me an email with a pdf newsletter attached - totalling 1.3 MBs and Outlook Express wouldn't download it. The 'Help' pages say that the maximum size of an email is usually 1MB. I found the message and PDF on my ISP's webmail, and have deleted the original. I can send emails, but now find that Outlook Express will not download ANYTHING and I have to deal with all incoming emails by 'webmail' Any ideas please how I can get Outlook Express downloading in the normal way?

"Many e-mail and news servers limit the size of the messages you can receive and send. Usually this limit is one megabyte (1 MB) per message, including all attached files."
Yes, OE was receiving/sending before the incident occurred. The problem is only with receiving, not with sending. I checked Security as you suggest but 'Do not allow attachments' was not ticked.

10Mb -ish.
I suggest either 1) Outlook Express Mail account settings are incorrect (prob. in server settings .. make sure you have latest entries according to your ISP mail settings) or
2) The ISP thinks there is malicious contect in the pdf.
pdf's are worlwide used, and a universal document format. There might well be a problem with the attachment or
3) The sender has your email address wrong.

Thank you very much for your concern and advice. In the meantime I have emailed Orange customer services and had a reply suggesting numerous references to explore. I have a lot of research/homework to do on the subject over the next few days, but will put another posting here if/when the problem is solved. Thanks again.
