Kitten neutering early

My son's kitten is 4 months old. Lifting up his tail I can see he is 'ready for action'. The vet won't neuter until 6 months old but as we also have a dog I'm worried the cat might initiate terratorial spraying. So I want to get him done asap. Any reason why I can't tell a wee porky about his age to get the vet to do him now? Jabs were done by the rehoming centre so my vet has no history on his books.

I haven't read this article but I hope that it answers your question.

Read and then you will know when to de-ball the little one.

:-)
I believe it's OK as long as they weigh 2lbs so they can take the anaesthetic.
Wouldn't the vet require the records from the re-homing centre?
*If* 4 months is too early you should think of your cats welfare and health....not the possibility that he may spray.
According to our vet the RSPCA neuter male kittens at six weeks so age is not a problem, our vet did ours at 4 months as he was 'well grown' in that area, she did say that 6 months was the general age but all animals were dealt with on a case by case basis.
Cats Protection trap and neuter ferals from 4 weeks of age. Care has to be taken to maintain body temperature but otherwise no probs.
Owners who take on a male and female from the same litter should have a vet who is prepared to neuter from 4 months.
