Broken Arm

my boyfriend broke his humerus 5 weeks ago and has a sleeve holding it in place, we've been told to tighten it to ensure the bone is supported. after tightening it last night he woke this morning and his lower arm and hand were badly swollen. it's been loosened now but the swelling isn't going down much. should we be doing anything else?

Contact the fracture clinic, did they not give you guidelines of what to watch out for. They should have.

they just said to watch that if the sleeve was too tight then it might trap a nerve and cause some numbness.

Give it another 24 hours and the swelling shouldngo down.

ok thanks Sqad, he's in a bit of a panic about it. Should he try and do his exercises to get the blood moving a bit more?

Yes if it reassures him, but the swelling should be down by the morning.
