I ordered my little girls a dolls house online from a high street toy shop ( not sure if i can mention them by name) in a 50% sale. Today was the last day within the delivery dates quoted, and still no delivery so i gave them a quick ring. I was advised that the courier apparenly couldn't find my address on several occasions, despite having both my home and mobile so they sent it back to the warehouse.
I can't have the one which was sent back because it does not go back in stock and if i want another i have to go to the back of the queue which is several hundred orders long and they is no guarentee i will get one in time for Christmas. I complained but they said there was nothing they could do ( i was going to ask for a supervisor but the kids came into the room).
I feel as though i have been badly done by, they took the money from my card (they said i would be refunded) so surely they should delivery my dolls house as a priority, since it was not my error. I just wanted to whinge and get it off my chest, i hope you don't mind...I won't be shopping there again.
That would make me fume, I certainly wouldn't accept that just from the person who answered your call snowdrop (who is probably just part of a call centre with a script to follow). I'd ring and insist on a manager and make a fuss. I have had deliveries go astray before and I tend to think any claim about addresses or lost in the warehouse very fishy.
I would put it in writing and send it recorded delivery, now, and keep a copy. How come he couldn't find your address, do you have an odd house name in a street without numbers? What's up with him having a satnav and your postcode?
Thanks for your replies everyone. I was having it delivered to my mum's house so the kids wouldn't see it. I admit folk do have problems finding her address but they can get to a neighbours using a sat nav. Surley they could have rung for directions, we gave them 2 numbers.
