What's Adobe doing there?

My partner wants to watch some Corrri Street on ITV Iplayer (or player), but Adobe is there waiting to be downloaded, but I thought Adobe was all about photos, etc so what's it doing there and how do we get rid of it without having to download it and watch what she wants? Ta Muchly.

Adone makes all sorts of products, to allow you to view documnets (adobe reader), to view graphics on web sites (flash or shockwave) and so on.

If the web site says you need an adobe product (and my guess it is flash) then go ahead and download it.

It will be very quick to download and install it.

I'm with VHG - you get regular prompts to update things like Adobe Flash Player, and Java. These are programs that allow certain sorts of videos and animations to run. If they just made one version, we'd all get too contented and too used to it, so they keep updating them.
I imagine this happened in the stone age: Wheel, Wheel NT. Wheel Vista. The neanderthalers didn't update regularly, so their wheels fell off.

woodie, it is free, and sadly, you do need it, especially for goodies like iplayer on the BBC
