For me, there's no humbug about it whatsoever. I'm not grumpier around Xmas than I am at any other time of the year - I just object to being told that I ought to be happier...

I don't send cards, though I will if someone sends me one so as not to appear rude.

I can understand how much children love it, of course, as I did myself when I was a child. However,...

I think it was Saturday I saw it :-) We've had advent calendars in the shop since September!! So stupid!

I'm not sure i'll be bothering with a tree this year. We live in a tiny terraced house and we always struggle to find a place to put the damned thing. Now that we have had to rearrange our living room to accomodate the oh's new (massive) TV there is even less room.

yes, I saw the coke ad on saturday.
I don't do Christmas either. A lot of fuss for one day. The shops will be heaving, They are only shut for one day for goodness sake. Just think of all the wasted food going in to land fill.

hi daffy. I live in a small flat and havn't got a lot of spare room for a tree either, I might move my computer desk into my bedroom and put the tree in it's place.
like some on here don't do Christmas not in the traditional sense, not since the o/h passed away, and now i find it a trial all round.

oh em10........ that is sad. I agree it's not the same without our loved ones. it seems to be one time of year that brings back all the memories too...... I hope it's not too painful for you. x
What annoys me most is the *compulsory* joy and the pathetic notion that if you're not blissfully happy in the run-up to a circus of commercial peer pressure then there must be something fundamentally wrong with you...

far too early
I'm sure Christmas comes round quicker every year

(sits in corner and sobs)

nothing wrong with you markrae, lots feel the same as you do. reading back through my answers I'm begining to think you and many others that don't want to be merry have got it right! I'm wavering on the borderline between happy Christmas and Bah! humbug!!
daniela, there are any number of things we could do, but i haven't the time nor patience any longer. It's not just the loss of loved ones, its the time consumming rampant commercialism of it all. Seeing as how many of our shops had decorations, cards, whatnot in september, find it really hard to garner the enthusiasm

I can understand how much children love it, of course, as I did myself when I was a child. However, looking back, that was entirely down to getting presents - nothing else.

I can understand that it might mean something to Christians, though these days you'd be hard pushed to find one who actually believed that Jesus was really born on 25 December...

And I can understand that some families use it as an excuse to get together. That's great, of course, but doesn't apply to me.

I quite agree with all your answers markrae.
