Apologies if someone has already posted on this but in the 'showbiz' news at the moment is a story about Caroline Flack age 32yrs dating Harry Styles age 17yrs.
I'm not asking for your comments on this but how you feel in general about an older woman dating a younger boy or indeed an older man dating a younger woman.
Would you go out with someone who is say 20 years younger or older than yourself?
Men who have daughters. Would your daughter mind if you went out with someone the same age as her?
Ladies, would your son mind if you went out with someone his age?
My current partner of 11 years is 16 years younger than me and I rarely even think about the age gap. I agree it can be difficult to accept until it's you involved.
OH is much older than me but since we met when I was in my thirties and he in his forties, it didn't seem as marked as is does with a 17 and 32 yr old; in fact our age gap is larger than theirs.
We've been together for over 25yrs now so I have no problem with it and think a good match is more about compatablility than age.
pastafreak that's taking it too far,he's old enough to be her grandfather! When all the sex has gone what would they have in common? He wouldn't be able to go out with her friends and their boyfriends he would look like a chaperone.
I do feel 17 is a bit young, he's not grown up yet - but as you get older, age difference becomes less important. OH is 14 years younger than me, and we've been happily together over a decade now.
Looking at it from a logical viewpoint, the young man will be gaining from the older woman's experience and the woman will be gaining from the prestige of attracting a young man, so why not if they are both getting something from the relationship.
