hi i am 25+1 and having pain quite low down in my pubic area- its like sharp pains almost to the point of hitting my back. I have had the pain on and off for about a week, and i thought it was IBS pains but it clearly isnt ( without going into detail!) i wake up in the mornings and i have to be helped out of bed and to the toilet as the pain is severe in the mornings... any ideas?

sorry i mean 25+1 pregnant
give your midwife a call, it may be something like SPD, but you ought to get checked out as its not easy to get an idea from a description online

cheers mate- whats SPD? i never had these pains with the other two
http://en.wikipedia.o...sis_pubis_dysfunction gives a good explanation. there are ways of easing it a bit but you do need to have a word with midwife.

thank you :-)
np. If it is spd then apparently the pain goes pretty much as soon as baby is born, if thats any consolation. Try the recommendation of keeping legs together when getting in and out of bed though, that may help til you see midwife.
I had it. Very painful. But it does, or did, go as soon as the baby is born.

red i have to be helped out of bed lol. ummm it is painful- even right now i feel like i want to push.... and it feels like my bladder is overfull but its not its sooo weird!
sounds exactly like spd to me too. You need to get onto things directly on monday - you need to see a physio and will probably need crutches
i had it too with my first baby, i think i was about 26 weeks pregnant when it happened and was given crutches eventhough i insisted i didnt need them.but without them couldnt walk, couldn get upstairs,it took me ages to go to the loo and get downstairs again.but i was very lucky, when i was about 35 weeks pregnant all the pain dissapeared, i was normal again!! so fingers crossed, you might get lucky just like me. by the way, with my second pregnancy i never had it.
" i feel like i want to push " are you in labour ?
Have you read any of the answers Anne?
