What does it mean when people post a full stop but nothing else?

Some lurker/joker has posted bad stuff .. and doing this hides their post in the latest posts list .. and removes their satisfaction.

It usually follows an --answer removed-- where the comment is removed but leaves an obscene username as the 'last post by'.

just submitting a '.' removes the name.

Usually it's used to bump a trolls rude answer from the latest posts section.

I remeber when some memebers used to post blank posts with blank titles. I'm not sure it's possible now but I know some like a challenge
