Book Title - Help!!!

Need to find out a childrens book title. When I was young I used to read over a over a book about two children who I think were orphaned and had to live with a nasty relative who did not love them. They never had much and were ridiculed at school. However, they sought solace in a Tree that they used to go to, and sleep in and take picnics too. I think they actually ran away and lived in it. Details are now sketchy and the book cannot be found. It was not a popularist childrens book to my knowledge- would love to know this to get for my son.

Any help would be greatly appreciated- if i find this out it mean that this site has solved 2 great riddles for me that have bugged me for over ten years.

I vaguely remember a book called "The Faraway Tree" when I was small ( some time ago now!!!) don't know if that might be what you are looking for.Sorry,I have no idea who wrote it.

The Magic Faraway Tree was written by Enid Blyton. Three children (happy at home with their parents!) visit it and the people who live in it (Moonface and Silky I can remember).
