air vent help

it looks almost 3 dimensional i.e. not flat as if it has a slight tube section at the back to 'couple' to a circular duct pipe of similar size,

any thoughts please? does it look like that to you?

my first thought is that you might do better putting it in Home & Garden or How it Works to have a better chance of an answer.

sorry hand slipped and it ended up in the wrong section :)
It's actually a soffit vent to allow fresh air into the attic area (above any insulation) to prevent accumulation of moisture, especially in the winter. It doesn't actually connect to anything (at least the application here in the U.S.) but allows fresh air in sans little bugs, through the soffits...
