Dogs that bite

I think that owners of dogs should be obliged to keep them muzzled when being visited by postmen, meter readers, delivery personnel and when out for walks
Failure to do so should result in a warning and then, if ignored, the dog should be pout down

It helps enormously with the dogs' socialisation as well as the obvious benefit of training the owners. Baldric - welcome to my club ;) When I was owned by a huge Newfi he was able to help many people and children overcome their fear of dogs because he had the kindest nature I have ever known in a canine.
Why should all dogs be muzzled in public places, Daffy. Should all people be handcuffed and muzzled in public places too. At 65 years old and owning dogs for years, and years none of my dogs has even bitten anybody. I am more frightened of some people than of dogs. Dangerous dogs should not be out in public places, and there is a good case for muzzles, but why should all dogs suffer (and they do suffer when they are muzzled) because of the very few that cause problems.
I don't think dogs should be muzzled because some people are terrified of dogs. That is the problem of those people, not the fault of the dogs.
