How do i locate a paupers grave?

I am trying to locate my grandfathers grave,my father was fostered out so little is known but it does seem like it would be a paupers grave as they had no money and lived in a rough neighbourhood....The Gorbals of Glasgow.I have done research and i know the date,address and cause of death but the only thing i dont know about him is the month and day of birth,i do know the year.Any help would be grear....Thanks.

If you know the area where he died it might be possible to find the location of the grave in the council records. Wasn't there any birth details on the death certificate?

Would it be possible to get a copy of his death certificate? If so, that would give details of his birth (not just the year) details of his parents, date of their marriage etc. Might be a starting point.

Death record has all the details on apart from date of birth.

As nungate has suggested, if you know the date and address of death, the local council might well have burial records. If, as you think, it might be a pauper's grave, there is probably a particular cemetery where such burials took place. Worth contacting the appropriate department of the council.

If you are trying to locate his grave, why do you need his date of birth?

He is Patrick James Boyle born 1908 Glasgow,location unknown but he has younger brothers and sisters born Bridgeton 1901 and Camlachie 1904.Patricks parents were Francis Boyle and Rose Montford/Mountford,name varies on records.Addresses they lved at were 94 King St Tradeston........48 Franklin St Bridgeton..........21 Wesleyan St Calton,Cheers for the help.

Missprim...Date of birth might be needed to single him out from others,believe me it is a very common name in the Gorbals.

There's only 1 Patrick Boyle born in Glasgow in 1908 and he was Patrick Joseph and had different parents............

I have found a Patrick James Boyle Born 1908 Glasgow
Death 6th May 1946 Eglinton St Glasgow
Father Francis Boyle married Rose Montford 12th April 1935
St Francis Church Gorbals Glasgow.

If you know his date of death and where he died then as nungate said, the location of the grave should be in the councils records.I don't think you need the date of his birth for this.

Missprim......That is the one but your info is slightly wrong.......Patrick died num 10 1/2 Eglinton LANE Gorbals between 25-26 May 1946.HE MARRIED MY GRAN Mary Kilkie 12 April 1935 at St Francis Church Huchesontown His parents Rose Montford and Francis Boyle married in 1901 at st Johns Portugal St Glasgow.Some documents ie sencus,marriage and my grandads death record show Rose as Montford and Mountford so i dont know which to go for but they all come up with the same person.
