Sean Connery Film?

Can anyone help me. I remeber watching a film, it must be 20 years old at least, starring Sean Connery as an undercover police man, posing as a coal miner, investigating one of the leading miners. He had an affair with his wife to. I think the other charachter may have been Burt Reynolds, but not sure about that. Connery may have only been an undercover investigator for the union, not the police. Please help, its doing my head in.

Try looking on IMDB (http://us.imdb.com/Name?Connery,+Sean). I can't spot the film you are talking about, but you might have better luck!

The Molly Mcguires it is, i got the plot slightly wrong, and it was Richard Harris and not Burt Reynolds (how i got those two mixed up i'll never know). Thanks
