My Grandad used to sing a silly ( was to me ) song with the lyrics ' susanna's a comical man ( parp ) fidlley diddley an ' Followed by lots of face pulling and farting noises' . Any ideas
My grandad used to sing this to me too (he's a yorkshire man if that's any help!), I was hoping there'd be an answer to this by now - as i've been singing the bit above since I read your question on Tuesday - and my 5 year old son is intrigued!! I too will try and investigate!
I remember the song too. As kids we had great fun singing it into tape recorders, getting it wrong and spending hours listening to our efforts whilst laughing at ourselves.
I know a man who owns a recorded verision so I will return....
just been told about this by Si and I am He who owns that song...albeit on a 78rpm gramphone record!!
the title is "The old sow" and the version I have was by a comic called Leslie Sarony. I reckon it is from about the 1940s...my gran knows the song so I reckon it is some kind of old folk song /children's song.
I will get round to burning it onto cd one of these days!!
regards,
Ben (romko)
