what to do with old SIM card?

I have recently taken out a contract with 02, and bought a new phone. I previously had a pay and go phone, also with 02. I am having my old number 'ported' to the SIM card in the new phone. Is there any way in which I can now use the old SIM card, which will presumably have no phone number attached to it after the transfer date?

Once the number is taken from a SIM card, the sim card becomes useless. They don't even swap the numbers over.

There's no use for the SIM card in relation to a phone, though you could use it as a badge, or jewellery.

Thanks, tomd! I'll affix a pin to the SIM card. Who knows - it may become a fashion item!
