how do you change yourself?

If you have a quality about yourself you hate, how do you change it? Like if your a paranoid person how can you change yourself without going down the route of councelling because thats just expensive!

i know im pretty paranoid cos my mates tell me. i sometimes assume the worst in bad situations, and i dont want to be paranoid.

I wish I could believe me, I'm out spoken, I say what I think, I do not give unreal answers, If you want the truth, Do not ask me as a few in our local town has found out, I help people in many many ways with their problems, I wish I could say Sorry BUT, but that's not me, why? because I do not like people getting ripped off or getting taken advantage of, I have loaned people my car only to find the Fkg thing been left that low on Fuel, I have helped people one person in particular that has cost me my Job that I loved doing, " How do you change yourself" I'm a soft basd at heart but I wish I could belive me.
