To become a paramedic you can either apply through UCAS on a paramedic science or paramedic practice course at University on a two year full time basis or, if you are already an ambulance technician you are able to progress through that. However if your not already an ambulance technician this route to become a paramedic is no longer available. In regards to work placements/experience you should look into volunteering for St.Johns, completing any first aid courses, volunteering at residential homes for elderly people, or at local health practices where you could assist/observe the nurses.
