Opened the Ch. le Monteil d'Arsac (a young 09) this evening, NoM, and now nice and mellow.
Justifies the 82 points on the Spectator ranking IMHO
The usual blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Franc and the standard deep, ruby colored win eone would expect of un Haut Médoc.
A relatively light nose but with a spicy base.
On the palate, the acidity is well balanced with the Merlot black fruits, with high tannins not standing out of place with the rest of the wine. Similar to a Ch La Lagune if you have tried that...
Aaah, another glass me thinks; could do with a fresh crusty baguette and a Chevre Cendré here though
Interesting given its history but now an up and coming chateau of the Haut Médoc/Margaux - not sure who sells it over here as this was un cadeau de France de ma soeur; can find out if anybody interested....
The 06 is supposed to be splendid with a rich texture and very-well balanced, what the French term "Nouveau Classique" and still in French ownership after the takeover. Might try and seek out a bottle of that little year....
