Spellmaster

Is spellmaster just a petty minded individual who doesn't have an original answer to any of the serious questions posted on answerbank and therefore is sad enough to sit reading and picking holes in them?

I reiterate my earlier point Spellmaster - we are all equal here, I wouldn't for one moment presume to correct other people's errors of speech or spelling, for fear I might be perceived as being pompous and humourless, and not a little xenophobic! Of course, if anyone chooses to take the literary moral high ground, then that is their perogative, but it would appear from the number of adverse comments, as opposed to agreements, that this particular stance is not appreciated by the majority of Visitors. Of course SM, I wouldn't dream of trying to 'stop you' from making your corrections - to do so would make me as dogmatic and high-handed as you, something I would be keen to avoid. There is a message here Spellmaster, which you appear to have a vested interest in ignoring - people visit this Site for fun, information, debate, and comment, not a lecture in grammar and nationalisation. Your points have been read, and noted, so can you avoid having the last word now? Does THIS put the issue to bed? I really really hope so.
Spellmaster, you may believe that you're saving the English from Americanization, but personally, I think it may take more than a superhero whose sole power is correcting spelling and grammar in a forum that has absolutely *not* asked for this function to be performed. Far from being useful, it's irritating to most people. As far as I recall, you're the only person I've ever seen get their own question about what they thought they were doing on the site. If you really want to stop American Imperialism, why not go and join an anti-war rally, and do something useful? Incidentally, Waldo has an initial capital. Don't you even know that? I do. I knew it when I was five... etc.
If you really want to stop American imperialism, why not do something useful like join an anti-war rally in stead of pratting about being the worst superhero (chief power - 'spelling corrections', known weaknesses 'unable to contribute anything fundamentally useful to the dabates'.) in the world. You're the only contributor I recall seeing having a topic dedicated to their presence here and whether it's desirable. Incidentally, 'Waldo' as a proper name needs an initial capital. Don't you even know that yet? I do. I knew when I was five. (See? Irritating isn't it?)
I agree totally with everything that has been posted here, to continually correct the spelling mistakes of others is extremely rude and very bad manners, surely if you want us all to remain totally english then you should use what the english are supposed to be renowned for, good manners. I also note that you made a few spelling errors yourself in your frequent reprimands, which you admit to. Doesn't this show that you have made yourself look a bit of an idiot? You aren't really appreciated here, so I am wondering why you are still hanging around.Maybe you are of the same ilk of the Equiba, how many pounds in a stone? and Louis Vitton people who post here.Just trying to annoy us.
Thank you wildwood and Chinajan, I appreciate your positive comments. I accept that my methods could have been more diplomatic, and I will endeavour to improve this following on from Cupra's feedback. In the meantime, it's so nice to know that there others for whom the correct use of language does still have meaning and purpose.
Just to add my two penn'orth (as opposed to my ten cents) to this debate, I have no problem with Spellmaster's correcting people, and it's heartening to see someone fighting against blanket use of Americanisms. However, I would be interested to know whether Spellmaster is here for any reason other than to correct people (the very name 'Spellmaster' suggests not).

Well I really opened a can of worms when I posted the original question. I thought the whole point of this website was to solicit answers to questions hitherto unknown by the enquirer. Spellmasters contributions do not do this but what they achieve is to mark the original question as answered when it in fact is not. For this reason I feel the site co-ordinators curtail his involvement. He should be restricted to answering questions and not criticising others grammar or spelling it achieves nothing.
Spellmaster in my humble opinion you lost all credibility with the first "answer" you posted to this "question". It was so littered with elementary mistakes, the very kind that you have been correcting elsewhere on this site that frankly you now look an absolute fool. (quite impressed by 37 answers though!)
