Happy to be home.

We're just home from a few days in London - had a great time visiting exhibitions and museums. Since we live in the middle of nowhere we especially enjoyed the novelty of hopping on and off buses at the drop of a hat. I could ride the London buses for many days before I tired of it!

But its good to be home, the air is fresh and the local news feels oh so familiar!

And when you've been away what makes you happy to be home?

Another thing I love about London, is that in contrast to many smaller towns and cities, its not all about shopping or chain stores.

I love London,we go 3or 4 times a year,see a show,eat in Chinatown and Brick Lane and just wander,and when I win the Lottery I will buy a flat on the river near Westminster,so that I can have drinks on the balcony overlooking the Thames.

Never get itchy feel welshy? Never fancy seeing somewhere different?

I do, I have to get it out of my system ever now and then.

Daughter used to buy us theatre tickets in London for Christmas occasionally
I had to ask her not to do it any longer. I hated the crowds, couldn't cope with it at all. Never felt so panicky in my life.

I lived in London fron 1989 to 1990 and loved it, but only because my employers paid for me to live in a hotel in Bloomsbury which was very nice. Loved the theatres and shopping, going to Covent Garden and the Sunday market at Camden Lock.
I was offered a permanent job there but couldn't have afforded the same way of life, plus day to day it was far too busy for me.........met some lovely people though who I still keep in touch with.

I think Sir John Soane designed the previous Bank of England building - which was demolished in the 1930s to make way for the current one.

The museum is a quite extraordinary display of his various collections of art/sculpture/memorabilia - a magical haven of quiet in the middle of London.
