Who is the fictional character who has been portrayed by the greatest number of actors on film and TV.I think it may be Sherlock Holmes.Wikipedia lists about 50 actors.Does anyone know of any other characters who might qualify.

What about Mickey Mouse? He must have appeared in loads of short films.
First policeman has appeared in thousands of different films, as has man in bar...

Can I clarify the parameters of my question.I am looking for a character from fiction who has been played by the greatest number of actors on film and tv.Real life people like Hitler and Napoleon don't count.(Though Napoleon has apparently been played by over 200 actors.)

Thanks for your suggestions.I think we have a winner.Using the character pages on IMDb I have checked your suggestions.i haven't gonethrough each listing to check for duplicates as that would take too long.the winner is santa Claus with 815 film and TV appearances.Followed by dracula with 273.Sherlock Holmes has 255.Hamlet has 202 and Robin Hood 128.Thanks for your help.
How about Napoleon Bonaparte? He would appear as a minor character in countless films, as well as those where he features prominently.
