Had a visit from my little 3 year old neighbour earlier, he wanted to borrow a dvd. he was very specific however in that movie had to feature the following:
A fat lady
A man (He loooves Mans so he told me)
A dog
it had to be both scary and sad
there were to be monsters who scared people and caught them and made them sad
there was to be a big family and the mum was to die.
I foobed him off with the 2nd Ace ventura movie
Anyone any idea of a movie that feature all that????

He just kept on adding more things to his request to stop me finding the one he asked for as he wanted to stay and visit for a bit rather than just get a movie and leave. He likes to come visiting :o)
my kids are 11 and 10 so many of the movies we have wouldn't be suitable viewing for a 3 year old so he doesn't get to borrow them - his favourite movie is Nanny mcphee which my kids would have found scary at his age but he loves it. We are all different and I know he isn't allowed to watch anything not age appropriate. He is a lovely little boy who likes peppa pig, is in bed at 7 every night after a story (kipper the dog if I babysit) and loves his mum and dad and 6 year old brother, not some deviant child with horrific parents. I just thought his list of requirements was fab and if I could find one just like that i'd have got if for him just to call his bluff!!
Thing 1 would come up with a list like that. Last week, they were in himself's van and me and the others we in my car driving in front of them. Thing 1 kept shouting out 'die' - no idea where she got it from! She obviously has no idea what it means, but it obviously got a response from himself so she kept shouting it.
Annie - sounds like the little one was trying it on because he didn't want go home, bless him (do you want to babysit my kids?).

Hahaha, love the 'Looooves mans' bit! Doesn't sound bad at all to me; like others have said the mum dying could be a response to anything; other children he knows talking about fmaily members dying- A child at nursery heard another child say their grandad had died then turned to me and said "Mrs Smith's dead!" (Mrs Smith was their teacher in the first term of school before she retired and I took over) I said she wasn't; she was just at home relaxing but this child was convinced she was dead; nothing horrible in it!
Also, there are lots of children's things with monsters in and the child knows that being caught by a monster would be a sad thing; doesn't mean they've been shown films with the things he requested.

lol sher.
I actually think I am rubbish with kids despite me having two of my own, I am quite strict with them and don't let them away with anything - they do however strangely keep coming back! I babysit for them from time to time as, like us, thety don't have any family nearby to ask. They return the favour so it's all good. I'd babysit for you anytime if you were closer, but I do warn you that I did stand on the wee one the last time I looked after him. He grabbed my foot as I was walking and as I was avoiding falling on him I caught his leg with my foot. An ice pole to ccol it down and eat afterwards seemed to do the trick!!

I agree sophie. I asked him last week if he liked the toast I had just made him and he turned round and said "No, but I's eatin it anyways" - he is like my younger son's mini me - he so reminds me of him at that age. he loves to pop in but we have to have an arrangement now as he had started "just sneakin'" across at any opportunity and then being difficult to get back out again. I now agree a time and how long he is allowed to stay - we set the timer on the cooker and when the beeps go, he has to go home. Seems to be working better.
