Wearing someone elses shoes
36 Answers
Is it only me that finds it a bit gross?
I did a car boot on the weekend and sold a few pairs of shoes that I don't wear anymore but have in the past. A couple of them were shoes I wouldn't wear socks with but they were snapped up sharpish even though it was obvious they had been worn.
You see quite a lot of them on these facebook selling sites but as lovely as the shoes may be I can't stomach the thought of sharing someone elses foot sweat. Bleeuugghhh!

I wipe them out with Dettol anti-bacterial spray and it doesn't really bother me. What did bother me was years ago on a special Anniversary holiday to the Caribbean (I had money then as worked in those days!) we went snorkelling on a reef, we had to wear communal plastic shoes they stored on the boat so we didn't cut our feet on the coral ................ but then the diver brought out the snorkels kept on the boat and that thought of other people using them with bad teeth, colds or smelly breath really made me gag ........but I used it anyway, glad I did, the sight under the sea was the most fantastic experience of my life.:)
If I had no choice and no finance I would have to wear secondhand shoes I suppose. But shoes adapt to the feet of the wearer and so I cannot see how it can be good to wear shoes that have changed shape due to a previous wearer. Walking boots are much stiffer and probably retain their original shape.
Wearing someone elses shoes can lead to problems such as Tinker has said. People all walk differently.
