Eye problem

Brother has bloodshot eye. Its so painful he wants to pull it out. Any idea of the cause ? He's 65y.

York 311...is an eye expert and he will hopefully see your post.

However...until then and in my opinion acute angle-closure glaucoma must be considered a possibility particularly if the signs are associated with nausea and vomiting.

See a DR today if possible.

tambo.....I have been "musing".......if your brother is still in trouble this morning on awakening,then he should go to A&E or an Eye hospital if you have one.

My diagnosis needs confirming or "rubbishing" but if confirmed, then urgent treatment is needed.

Agree with Sqad - a painful bloodshot eye is a medical emergency, and your brother should see a doctor as soon as possible to exclude a serious condition such as uveitis.

thanx for response. A&E say its burst blood vessels, injected his eye & given him drops till next week when the eye will be lasered.

Vision is blurred in faulty eye, hoping the laser improves his vision so he can drive.

Am his cook/cleaner/chauffeur/carer at present; brothers soon move into lone sister's lives. He'll be on AB soon complaining about me :(
