Hi I'm whilst icing my injury I thought I'd ask for advice etc. Anyway, I played hockey today (field) as I do most weeks. Recently my heel has felt rather bruised but as a rule I just take ibuprofen, stretch the area and ice it once in a while. whilst playing and finding it uncomfortable to run, both on the heel and underneath I felt a snapping sensation under my foot which really caused me to put the brakes on. I just could not run any further and indeed for the rest of the game not able to run at all. I'm now icing it but i'm thinking that tomorrow I may find it even worse to walk on. Is there anyone that has had this happen that could offer any advice/ I'm considering going to A+E but not sure if it's just a rest it and see type thing. Thank you.

That is extremely unlikely to be a rupture or tear of your Achilles tendon.
I would continue icing it, resting it and taking Ibuprofen at least 600mgms in one go up to every 6 hours.
Get back to us tomorrow morning for an update. Sounds very much like a muscular tear.

Hi Ubasses, thank you for your reply I have to consider everything. whilst sitting feeling sorry for myself I've googled the foot and it looks as though it's the plantar facia which runs under the foot. I will go and have it checked out forthwith. I have taken my shoe off and It is so difficult to walk on the foot. there's no point in whinging tho, I'd best get it sorted.
Hi, Thank you Squad, Up until now I have taken 600mg of Ibuprofen but not all together. I took 400 in the morning before playing due to the heel pain, and 200 this afternoon. I'll take some before bed then I can have a fresh start in the morning. I've also given it a good icing. I visited a+e where the nurse practitioner suspected planter fasciitis. As I already have a podiatrist appt next week for my other foot I may as well include this problem too. I just wanted to make sure that I hadn't caused too much damage. I have had this planter thingy in my other foot before but I've never had the snapping sensation or the amount of pain I had today. Injuries are so frustrating.
Hi, walking is manageable but very painful, in a very sore and bruised sort of way. Re the snapping sensation, I really don't know what happened there I was struggling to run throughout the match, whereas usually I'm like a whippet, this week I found myself running on my toes rather than my heels. I ran for the ball, I got it, then all of a sudden there was a weird feeling, which I could only describe as a snapping (maybe someone else would have a different description less dramatic) under my foot which caused me to immediately stop and drop my stick, I felt no extra pain as I walked but I could no longer run. This morning I put a cool bandage on, not sure if it is beneficial to have the foot subjected to prolonged coolness? should I use intermittant heat? It's been on around 4 hours now. Sorry for the essay.
I also suffer from plantar fasciitis. i sort of know what you mean to a point. Yesterday I was walking and the underneath of my foot suddenlt felt as though it was stretched to a point where the pain was so bad it felt like an elastic band pulled right out so I had to stop. Nothing snapped, but It did feel like it could have done. Though I know it wouldnt have.
