Paid holiday

I work 8 hours a week on a Saturday, plus extra time if needed. I have a contract which states I am entitled to 6 paid holiday days per year. Last year I did not take any, and this year my boss said even though it states on my contract I am entitled to it I was not actually going to get it because I work on a Saturday! Surely it doesn't matter what day of the week I work. Any help would be appreciated before I speak to my boss. Thanks

This is a little above the statutory minimum holiday entitlement which I think would be around 5.6 days off for someone in your position.
However if you choose not to take them then I think you lose them and can't be paid extra for them.

For most people, the law states that they are entitled to 5.6 weeks holiday per year (this includes annual and bank holidays). Your basic working week is one day and your contract states you have 6 days paid holiday, which is the nearest number of whole days to 5.6 weeks/days.
The fact that your working day is a Saturday is irrelevant. This site gives more details.
