Hi all
I love this veg but i have to cook it for a couple of hours for it to soften. Anyone any idea's of a quicker way.

Sounds like it is too old rather than too young and has become fibrous.... best option id to put it in a food processor and blitz it with a little butter as it may be hard to mash properly
I put swede on the same time as spuds. I steam it...
Dunno about anyone else, but any veg that takes hours to cook simply isn't worth it!
It only takes 40 mins if you roast it without par boiling
That's the point. It doesn't take hours to cook.

Cube it, steam it, stick blender, butter, S&P...done.
I've had swede that's taken 35/40 mins to soften but never hours...The time I left it on a rolling boil and went off to make a phone call had some interesting results :o(

lol B00 ...I had to give it up after I forgot where I was again & took a phone call in the post office queue.

A couple of hours?? I do mine in the steamer and it takes about 30 mins when diced.
