I wouldnt be without mine they are especially good if you buy a cheaper cut of meat as it cooks slowly its lovely and tender I often cook a bit of brisket in mine.
I wouldn't be without mine. I just love to come home in the evening especially in winter and walk into a kitchen that's smells good and tells me 'dinner's ready!'
I'd have thought so. Use a decent recipe and ingredients and the time taken to cook isn't likely to remove flavour. I know they make good stews, and can cook chunks of meat. I think I'd look upon anything else as a bonus I'd probably not get around to using.
I always recommend going to a branch of The Works (cheapo books etc.) for a good selection of cook books specific to microwaves, halogen ovens, slow-cookers etc. Good ones from 99p!
I love mine in the winter time. Stews and cheaper cuts of meat, (brisket) are great in the slow cooker, just put everything in the pot and leave it for 4-5 hours. Not tried much else, and I never ever thought of making rice pudding in it.. that would be an interesting meal. My slow cooker is a Prestige, about £15, good value.
