BBC serual from 1987

Hi there

I'm looking for a BBC mini-series from 1987. It was about 5 episodes and was on Thurs nights I think, weekly.

The opening episode involved a riot outside a chemical company, named Dinslow Chemicals, where a security guard was killed. Two police detective were assigned to investigate, the senior one was in his early 40's, shortish, dark hair. The junior one was tall and blonde hair, and called Detective Sgt. Valentine.

Although initially their investigation was about the death, it eventually lead to industrial espionage and all sorts.

In the penultimate episode, Valentine was knocked off a bridge by one of the bad guys.

Any ideas?
