My son's vegetarian; he doesn't eat meat, fish, or poultry, but he does eat non-meat animal products - milk, cheese, eggs, yoghurt. If you don't eat any animmal products at all, you're a "vegan", which is a more restricted kind of vegetarian.
I'm lacto-ovo, free range egg eater. From Vegetarian Society Info sheet.
There are different types of vegetarian:
•Lacto-ovo-vegetarians eat both dairy products and eggs; this is the most common type of vegetarian diet.
•Lacto-vegetarians eat dairy products but avoid eggs.
•Vegans do not eat dairy products, eggs, or any other products which are derived from animals.
Eggs: Many lacto-ovo vegetarians will only eat free-range eggs. This is because of welfare objections to the intensive farming of hens. Through its Vegetarian Society Approved trade mark, the Vegetarian Society only endorses products containing free-range eggs.
I was brought up from childhood as a vegetarian and have to say there is no 'perfect' way. If you haven't already done so I suggest you read the information on the packs of Alpro Soya (milk alternative) which includes that soya protein products use five times less land and ten times less water than animal protein.
only wondered as i would have thought that vegetarians wouldn't eat eggs.
I Was having some lunch and a bloke in the cafe asked for a vegetarian all day breakfast with scrambled eggs.
i will eat almost anything, so definitely not a vegetarian. Going on your posts there are any number of variants on being a vegetarian. Bacon and eggs for later i suspect, what about you..
Im not a veggie but I just dont red meat and if I have any turkey or chicken, its perhaps just a thin slice. I just dont really like the taste or texture of meat or meat products. Ive tried veggie options but IMO they are horrible
I eat more chicken, and fish than red meat, though can't resist the odd cooked breakfast. I do buy meat in the winter time, for stews, and hearty meals, but confess that gets less in warmer weather.
I must admit to liking fish though. Salmon, haddock, trout or sea bass. I dont like shellfish or prawns etc. I do like eggs, except poached. I have a full and varied diet and have been like this for about 25 years
